BLIK #1 Началото

BLIK is a Bulgarian edition of photography built on the idea that each of us holds a unique way of seeing the world – a perspective we call blik. Its mission is to serve as a platform where diverse creative approaches intersect and complement each other, opening new horizons for contemporary photography. BLIK is for those who don’t just look, but truly see. A bilingual annual edition, created to provoke reflection and to speak through the power of visual storytelling.

Published in Bulgaria by @beforecreating BECA, the theme of its pilot issue is “The Beginning”, not as a fixed point, but as an ongoing process. More about this will be revealed within its pages, where readers will encounter and engage closely with the words and images of photographers @lozeva Yana Lozeva, @eduardomomene Eduardo Momeñe, @rafal.milach Rafał Milach, @sandrabalsells Sandra Balsells, @emin_ozmen Emin Özmen, @cloe_kerhoas_ozmen Cloé Kerhoas, @dimitristefanovdocumentary Dimitri Stefanov, @nikolasaevdocumentary Nikola Saev, @david.linuesa David Linuesa, and @mikel.bastida Mikel Bastida, as well as Bulgarian film director @marrtin_iliev Martin Iliev, the founder of @photosynthesisbg Photosynthesis – Petros Alexiadis, and the Editorial Director of @magnumphotos Magnum Photos – @giuliettapalumbo Giulietta Palumbo.

The publication also pays special tribute to the respected Bulgarian photojournalist Tsvetan Tomchev, who is no longer with us, but his visual legacy and contribution to the development of Bulgarian photography scene are explored through a conversation with photographer Denislav Stoychev.

BLIK #1 was made possible thanks to the friendship, trust, and support that connect @beforecreating BECA with these inspiring artists and professionals, and we are deeply grateful for their generosity in allowing us into their creative worlds, so that we may better understand what truly drives them.
