2024 has been a year of elections, with more than half the world's population going to the polls. As we look back on the political discourse of the year, we are reminded of Gospidinov's framing of elections as "referendums on the past".
Join us for a special Mahala Talks as US journalist GG/Graham Griffith holds a conversation with Panorama's Boyko Vassilev, Tonya Dimitrova, and Peter Georgiev about how the narratives on pasts imagined and real (though mostly imagined), were on the ballot in the US, Bulgaria, and elsewhere, and how we might rethink our political narratives to be more focused on the future.
