‘Vestiges of the Tongue’ offers an immersive exploration of three decades of work by photo-media artist Eugenia Raskopoulos, in which she addresses themes such as gender, migration, and globalisation. Taking shape as a scholarly monograph, the book is the first survey of one of Australia’s leading artists in the field, one whose cultural background informs an inventive and evolving oeuvre that consists of photo-media, installation, and photography. Throughout, Raskopoulos seems consistently engaged with the politics of the time, a fact which is reconsidered here by ten leading scholars and curators in the social context of today.
